Tempeh on NPR

We were glad to hear a report on Indonesia's remarkable and little-known soyfood, tempeh. (At first I thought it was an April Fool's joke.)

Nikki and I sampled the many varieties of tempeh during an extended visit to Indonesia in the 1980's. There we obtained the basis for recipes which were refined for the Western palate and added to our cookbook, American Wholefoods Cuisine.

One of the simplest ways to serve tempeh, is as a burger - which is a much better choice than the burgers sold today in both supermarkets and natural foods stores which are made from processed soy (TVP).

There is great potential for this little known food.
